- Tencel is as soft as silk. This natural artificial fiber is made from wood pulp derived from eucalyptus and other hardwood trees. These trees grow in specially cultivated forests managed according to the FSC-certified guidelines for responsible forestry. Some areas of land are unsuitable for agriculture due to poor soil fertility, but these responsibly managed eucalyptus forests thrive there. This ensures that the land is optimally utilized. It makes the production of lyocell fiber more sustainable than other wood fibers, which often come from endangered tree species.
Sustainably Produced:
The only area for improvement in production is the relatively high energy consumption. However, there are many significant advantages: during tree cultivation and production, both water and chemicals are captured and reused. Thanks to this closed-loop system, lyocell or Tencel fabric is entirely free of chemical residues. The material is therefore skin-friendly and biodegradable.
