Tencel is as soft as silk. This natural synthetic fiber is made from wood pulp derived from eucalyptus trees and other hardwoods. These trees are grown in specially cultivated forests managed according to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standards for responsible forest management. Some lands are unsuitable for agriculture due to poor soil fertility, but responsibly grown eucalyptus forests thrive in such areas. This ensures optimal use of the land. It makes harvesting the lyocell fiber more sustainable compared to other wood fibers, which often rely on endangered tree species.
Sustainably Produced:
The only improvement needed in the production process is reducing energy consumption, which is still relatively high. However, there are many significant advantages: during tree cultivation and production, both water and chemicals are collected and reused. Thanks to this closed-loop system, the lyocell or Tencel fabric is entirely free of chemical residues. The material is therefore skin-friendly and biodegradable.
